Pakistan withdraws from Asian fencing championship in India

The Pakistan Fencing Federation has decided not to participate in the Asian Fencing Championship in India after failing to receive visa and clearance guarantees from organizers and authorities.

LAHORE: (UrduPoint/UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News-June-05th,2026) Pakistan has decided not to participate in the Asian Fencing Championship being held in India, a decision confirmed by Federation Secretary Usman Ahmed.

According to details, the organizers did not provide guarantees for clearance and visas from the Indian government. Therefore, the Pakistan Fencing Federation decided not to travel to India due to the lack of such assurances.

The organizers have issued clearance documents to athletes and officials from other countries, while Pakistan has not yet received any such document. All delegations except Pakistan have received clearance from the organizers, and Pakistan has been advised to contact the Ministry of Home Affairs.

Secretary of the Pakistan Fencing Federation, Usman Ahmed, said they contacted the Indian Fencing Association and the organizing committee twice and asked about clearance, but no assurance was given.

He stated that they were told that nothing could be done and that they could not guarantee visas or clearance.

Usman Ahmed further said that the organizers have now provided guarantees and issued lists for all other countries, but Pakistan’s case was not included. The Asian Fencing Championship is scheduled to be held in New Delhi from 18 to 24 June.
