Australia set 232-run target for Pakistan in second ODI at Lahore

The visitors’ innings was anchored by half-centuries from Josh Inglis and Cameron Green, while Pakistan captain Shaheen Shah Afridi led a disciplined bowling attack that restricted Australia despite key partnerships

LAHORE: (UrduPoint/Pakistan Point News- June 2nd, 2026) Australia have set a target of 232 runs for Pakistan in the second One-Day International at Gaddafi Stadium after posting 231 for 9 in their allotted 50 overs on Tuesday.

The visitors’ innings was anchored by half-centuries from Josh Inglis and Cameron Green, while Pakistan captain Shaheen Shah Afridi led a disciplined bowling attack that restricted Australia despite key partnerships.

Pakistan made an immediate impact after electing to field first, with Shaheen Shah Afridi dismissing left-handed opener Alex Carey for a duck off the very first ball of the innings.

The early breakthrough brought captain Josh Inglis to the crease at number three. He helped Australia recover with a 46-run stand alongside Matthew Short, who made a cautious 15 off 24 balls before being dismissed by Abrar Ahmed in the eighth over.

Australia soon lost Marnus Labuschagne for just five, as Arafat Minhas struck to reduce the visitors to 51 for 3.

Inglis then rebuilt the innings with Cameron Green, adding 51 runs for the fourth wicket. Inglis brought up his half-century—his fifth in ODIs—before being dismissed for 51 off 74 balls, hitting five boundaries.

Green carried on the resistance, sharing a vital 65-run partnership with Matt Renshaw for the sixth wicket. He eventually fell to Abrar Ahmed in the 40th over after scoring 53 from 92 deliveries, including two sixes and a four, finishing as Australia’s top scorer.

Short added further momentum later in the innings with a brisk 43 off 43 balls before being bowled by Haris Rauf.

Shaheen returned to break the lower order, dismissing Matthew Kuhnemann for five in the 47th over and later removing Nathan Ellis in the penultimate over.

Oliver Peake provided late support with a quick 31 off 31 balls, helping Australia push their total beyond 230.

Shaheen Shah Afridi finished as the leading wicket-taker with 3 for 36 in eight overs, while Abrar Ahmed, Arafat Minhas, and Haris Rauf claimed two wickets each.
