HBL PSL 11: Hyderabad Kingsmen stun Karachi Kings with last-over thriller

Chasing a challenging 189-run target, Kingsmen secured their first win in their PSL debut season after enduring four straight defeats against Lahore Qalandars, Quetta Gladiators, Multan Sultans and Peshawar Zalmi

KARACHI:(UrduPoint/Pakistan Point Nwes-April 11th, 2026) A late surge by Muhammad Irfan Khan powered Hyderabad Kingsmen to a thrilling four-wicket victory over Karachi Kings in the 20th match of HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL) 11 at the National Bank Stadium on Saturday.
Chasing a challenging 189-run target, the Kingsmen secured their first win in their PSL debut season after enduring four straight defeats against Lahore Qalandars, Quetta Gladiators, Multan Sultans and Peshawar Zalmi.
Hyderabad’s chase began aggressively as captain Marnus Labuschagne struck a quick 26 off 10 balls before being dismissed early with 36 runs on the board.
Maaz Sadaqat and Usman Khan then built strong momentum with a rapid 60-run partnership off just 30 deliveries. Sadaqat top-scored with 37 off 29 balls, while Usman made 27 from 13 balls, keeping the chase on track.
However, their dismissals triggered a brief collapse as Hyderabad slipped to 112/5, losing key batters including Saim Ayub and Glenn Maxwell cheaply.
At a critical stage, Irfan Khan anchored the innings, first adding 27 runs with Kusal Perera and then joining Hassan Khan for a decisive unbeaten 50-run stand. Hassan played a dominant hand with 33 off 16 balls, while Irfan finished unbeaten on 29 off 20 deliveries, guiding his team home in the final over.
For Karachi Kings, Abbas Afridi picked up two wickets, while Hasan Ali, Khushdil Shah, Adam Zampa and Salman Ali Agha took one each.
Earlier, Karachi Kings posted 188/8 after being put into bat. Their innings got off to a poor start with Reeza Hendricks dismissed for just two runs.
Salman Ali Agha (24) and Muhammad Waseem (25) rebuilt briefly with a 45-run stand, but Hunain Shah struck twice in quick succession to reduce Karachi to 59/3.
A solid 69-run partnership between Saad Baig and Azam Khan stabilised the innings before Labuschagne removed Azam for 26.
Moeen Ali then provided late fireworks, smashing 44 off 16 balls with five sixes and a four before falling in the penultimate over. Saad Baig remained the top scorer with a fluent 53 off 37 balls before retiring out.
Hyderabad’s Hunain Shah was the standout bowler, claiming 3 for 19, while Mohammad Ali supported with two wickets and Labuschagne took one.
