ISLAMABAD/KARACHI: (UrduPoint/Pakistan Point News-March 3rd, 2026) The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has approved an increase in electricity tariffs across Pakistan, including Karachi, under the latest quarterly adjustment.
The NEPRA said that the electricity rates will rise by 35 paisa per unit for the October–December 2025 period. The decision, issued after a formal hearing, will be effective for three months, from March to May 2026.
The authority stated that the increase will result in an additional financial burden of PKR 8.674 billion on electricity consumers. NEPRA has sent the decision to the Federal government for implementation.
This is the second quarterly adjustment in the current fiscal year. During the first quarter, covering July–September 2025, electricity tariffs were increased by 33 paisa per unit, applicable from December 2025 to February 2026.
