Petrol may increase by Rs4.39 per litre and light diesel oil by up to Rs6.55, with new prices expected to take effect from February 16 after approval.
ISLAMABAD: (UrduPoint/UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News-Feb-14, 2026) Petroleum product prices are expected to witness an increase of up to Rs6.55 per litre from February 16, according to sources familiar with the pricing review process.
Sources said the price of petrol is likely to be increased by Rs4.39 per litre, while high-speed diesel (HSD) may see a rise of Rs5.40 per litre. The expected hike comes amid fluctuations in international oil prices and exchange rate adjustments.
Similarly, the price of kerosene oil is projected to go up by Rs4 per litre. Light diesel oil (LDO) is likely to experience the highest increase among petroleum products, with an anticipated hike of Rs6.55 per litre.
Officials confirmed that the working related to the revision of petroleum prices has been completed. The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) will forward a summary regarding the proposed price adjustments to the Petroleum Division for further consideration.
Following approval from the Prime Minister, the Petroleum Division will issue an official notification announcing the revised prices. The new rates are expected to come into effect from February 16.
Petroleum prices in Pakistan are reviewed on a fortnightly basis, taking into account global market trends, import costs, and Currency exchange fluctuations. Any increase in fuel prices directly impacts transportation costs and may contribute to a rise in the prices of essential commodities across the country.
Consumers are bracing for the anticipated hike, which could add further pressure on household budgets already strained by inflation.
