LAHORE: (UrduPoint/Pakistan Point News-Feb 11th, 2026) The player auction for the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2026 concluded successfully at the Expo Center in Lahore, with over 800 local and international cricketers going under the hammer.

In a significant development, the Multan Sultans franchise entered the tournament under new ownership and a new name, “Rawalpindi,” marking their official debut in the event.

PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi attended the auction, where all franchise owners warmly welcomed him. He presented special customized “Markhor” T-shirts, commemorating the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, to all franchise representatives.

Notable player acquisitions:

Pakistan all-rounder Faheem Ashraf was bought by Islamabad United for PKR 85 million.

Australia’s David Warner went to Karachi Kings for PKR 79 million, while South Africa’s Riley Rossouw joined Quetta Gladiators for PKR 55.5 million

New PSL team Sialkot Stallions acquired Jahanzaib Sultan for PKR 6 million

Pakistan fast bowler Mohammad Ali was purchased by Hyderabad for PKR 21.5 million, and Haris Rauf returned to Lahore Qalandars for PKR 76 million

Naseem Shah was acquired by Rawalpindi for PKR 86.5 million, while wicketkeeper-batsman Azam Khan joined Karachi Kings for PKR 32.5 million

Aggressive all-rounder Sahibzada Farhan was picked by Sialkot Stallions for PKR 57 million

Bangladesh off-spinner Rashid Hussain joined Rawalpindi for PKR 30 million, and Pakistan’s young spinner Mehran Mumtaz went to Islamabad United for PKR 12.5 million

Pakistan’s Faisal Akram joined Quetta Gladiators for PKR 12.5 million.

Other key purchases included Pakistani all-rounders Aamir Jamal (Peshawar ZalmiPKR 19 million) and Jahandad Khan (Quetta GladiatorsPKR 25 million), spinners Usama Mir (Lahore QalandarsPKR 35 million) and emerging talent Arfat Minhas (Quetta GladiatorsPKR 11 million).

Major international buys included:

New Zealand’s Daryl Mitchell to Rawalpindi for PKR 80.5 million

Australia’s Max Bryant to Islamabad United for PKR 19.5 million

Former Australian fast bowler Peter Siddle and South African spinner Tabrez Shamsi to Sialkot Stallions for PKR 25 million and PKR 22 million respectively.

West Indies’ Shamarh Joseph went to Islamabad United for PKR 11 million, while Devon Jacobs joined Quetta Gladiators for PKR 6 million

Franchise owners actively competed for emerging talents and national stars, with teams balancing international experience and young local prospects. The auction also saw players like Mohammad Haris, Khushdil Shah, Asif Ali, and Hasan Khan join various franchises, highlighting strong local talent integration.

In addition, Peshawar Zalmi announced the inclusion of Kashif Ali through their Player Development Program.

The PSL 2026 auction reflects franchises’ strategic moves to strengthen squads ahead of the upcoming season, with significant investments in both national and international players.
