At least 15 martyred, dozens others injured in suicide blast at Islamabad Imambargah during Friday prayers

Police say explosion took place during Friday prayers at Imambargah Khadijat-ul-Kubra in Tarlai area

ISLAMABAD: (UrduPoint/Pakistan Point News-Feb 6th, 2026) At least 15 people were martyred and dozens sustained injuries in a suicide bombing inside an Imambargah in the Federal capital on Friday.

The police said that the explosion took place during Friday prayers at Imambargah Khadijat-ul-Kubra in the Tarlai area. Initial investigations suggest that the suicide bomber detonated himself after being stopped from entering the main prayer hall.

Deputy Commissioner Islamabad confirmed that 15 people were martyred in the blast, while several others were injured. Following the incident, a medical emergency was declared in hospitals across Islamabad to ensure immediate treatment of the wounded.

Hospital officials said that rescue operations are ongoing and injured victims are being shifted to various medical facilities. So far, 11 bodies and around 60 injured have been brought to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS).

Due to limited capacity at PIMS, a number of injured individuals have been shifted to other hospitals in Islamabad and Rawalpindi for further medical care. Hospital authorities said some of the injured are in critical condition.

Police sources said that law enforcement personnel and bomb disposal squad teams reached the site immediately after the explosion, cordoned off the area, and launched a search and clearance operation. Evidence is being collected from the scene to determine the nature of the explosive device and identify those responsible.

The security has been tightened across the federal capital while investigations into the suicide attack are underway. The authorities have urged citizens to remain calm and cooperate with law enforcement agencies as the probe continues.
