PDMA says pleasant days ahead for Lahore but safety precautions urged
LAHORE: (UrduPoint/Pakistan Point News-Feb 5th, 2026) The Punjab Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has released the weather forecast for Lahore ahead of the much-anticipated Basant festival, offering some positive news for the celebrants.
According to the PDMA, the weather in Lahore and surrounding areas is expected to remain pleasant during the festival. From February 6 to 8, Lahore will experience dry weather with partly cloudy skies. The temperature is expected to hover between 20 to 22 degrees Celsius, providing an ideal setting for kite flying.
However, the PDMA has also warned of colder conditions in northern areas, with rain forecasted in the lower regions and snowfall expected in the mountains. The colder temperatures in the upper regions may pose challenges for travelers, and citizens are advised to take precautions.
The PDMA urged citizens to follow safety guidelines during the festivities. Special caution is advised while flying kites near electric wires and rooftops.
The use of metallic strings, chemical-coated strings, and illegal kite-flying materials is strictly prohibited. Additionally, motorcyclists are reminded to wear helmets and neck guards for their safety.
