Sydney Sixers thanks Babar Azam for his contribution and participation during his time with team
LAHORE: (UrduPoint/Pakistan Point News-Jan 22nd, 2026) Former Pakistan captain Babar Azam’s stint in the Big Bash League (BBL) has come to an end after Sydney Sixers announced that he will be unavailable for the remainder of the tournament.
In a statement shared on social media, Sydney Sixers said Babar has been recalled to Pakistan’s national team camp for upcoming international assignments. As a result, he will not take part in the remaining matches of the BBL finals series.
The franchise also thanked Babar Azam for his contribution and participation during his time with the team.
In a video message, Babar expressed gratitude to the Sixers’ coaching staff and players, saying he thoroughly enjoyed his time with the side but had to leave due to national duty. He added that he was returning with fond memories and thanked the Sixers’ fans for their continued support.
Sydney Sixers are scheduled to face the Hobart Hurricanes in the Challenger Final on Saturday. The winner of that match will take on the Perth Scorchers in the BBL final on Sunday.
