Karachi police arrest suspects allegedly involved in abusing over 100 children

Superintendent of Police (Investigation) Usman Sadozai says arrests were made following the identification of a victim during a raid in Tipu Sultan

KARACHI: (UrduPoint/Pakistan Point News-Jan 17th, 2026) Karachi police on Saturday arrested a suspect and his accomplice allegedly involved in the sexual abuse of more than 100 children.

Superintendent of Police (Investigation) Usman Sadozai said the arrests were made following the identification of a victim during a raid in Tipu Sultan. The arrested suspects include the main accused, Imran, and his accomplice, Waqas Khan. Police said seven complaints had been registered between 2020 and 2025, while the suspects are believed to have abused over 100 children.

DNA evidence from cases across multiple districts matched the same individual, prompting a detailed investigation. Victims, aged 12 to 13, were targeted in all cases, and in one instance, a child was assaulted by more than one person. The DNA profiles matched the suspect in all seven registered cases.

Sadozai said Additional IG Karachi Azad Khan formed a special team on January 6 under DIG CIA Muqaddas Haider. Within 11 days, the team arrested the most wanted suspects. Imran, a resident of Manzoor Colony who runs a puncture repair stall, confessed to abusing dozens of children over a six-year period. He allegedly lured children on his motorcycle and took them near Malir Nadi to commit the assaults.

According to police, children in three cases identified Imran, while in one case a victim identified both Imran and Waqas Khan. In one incident, the suspects fled after a child raised an alarm in Surjani Town.

Inspector General Sindh Police said the case was investigated on scientific grounds, and the team would be awarded for its efforts.

Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah directed authorities to take the case to court based on strong evidence and instructed the Additional IG Karachi to provide daily progress reports. He condemned the abuse, calling it “unacceptable” and urged police to ensure that the suspects face justice.
