Veteran Newscaster Ishrat Fatima appointed mentor at PTV following Radio Pakistan exit

ISLAMABAD: (UrduPoint/Pakistan Point News-Jan 16th, 2026) Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar on Friday announced that renowned newscaster Ishrat Fatima was appointed as a mentor at Pakistan Television (PTV).

The announcement was made during a media interaction at Ishrat Fatima's residence in Islamabad. Present at the event were Federal Secretary for Information and Broadcasting, Ashfaq Ahmad Khalil, Prime Minister's Media Coordinator, Badar Shahbaz, and Principal Information Officer, Mubashir Hassan.

Minister Tarar thanked Ishrat Fatima for accepting the role of mentor and expert at PTV, highlighting her vast experience and expertise in the field of news broadcasting. He noted that her skills would be invaluable in training new talent in the art of news reading and presenting, especially in various challenging situations. Tarar also praised Fatima's distinguished career, stating that she has been a recognized voice in Pakistan for over four decades.

"Ishrat Fatima's voice is well-known to every Pakistani. She has served the nation for more than 40 years, and after her retirement from Radio Pakistan, I personally requested her to join ptv to help train the younger generation and promote the urdu language. Her return to PTV will be an inspiration for all and will further strengthen the institution," said Tarar.

In her comments, Ishrat Fatima expressed her deep passion for news reading, calling it her “obsession.” She thanked Minister Tarar for entrusting her with this important responsibility and said she looked forward to contributing to the development of new talent and the overall improvement of the organization.

Fatima also urged the government to continue encouraging and supporting skilled individuals across all sectors.
