Both sides discuss ways to enhance cooperation in fields of trade and investment
MANAMA: (UrduPoint/Pakistan Point News-Jan 14th, 2026) President of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari has been conferred Bahrain’s highest civilian award.
According to official media, President Asif Ali Zardari, who is currently on an official visit to Bahrain, was accorded a guard of honour upon his arrival at Qasr Al-Qudaibiya, where he held a meeting with King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa. The two leaders agreed to further strengthen bilateral relations between Pakistan and Bahrain.
Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to giving new dimensions to the longstanding fraternal ties between the two countries.
During the meeting, President Asif Ali Zardari was awarded Bahrain’s highest honour, The Order of Sheikh Isa bin Salman Al Khalifa (First Class), in recognition of his valuable services and efforts to promote bilateral relations between the two brotherly nations.
In a one-on-one meeting between President Zardari and King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, satisfaction was expressed over the positive direction of bilateral ties. Detailed discussions were held on enhancing cooperation in the fields of trade and investment.
President Zardari invited Bahraini investors to explore investment opportunities in Pakistan, particularly in agriculture, information technology, healthcare, tourism, and infrastructure, and emphasized joint ventures in these sectors.
Cooperation in defence and security was described as a key pillar of Pakistan-Bahrain relations. The two leaders also exchanged views on global and regional developments, stressing unity and restraint.
President Zardari said that the Pakistani community residing in Bahrain serves as a strong bridge between the two countries. He expressed gratitude for the facilities provided to approximately 116,000 Pakistanis living in Bahrain.
During the meeting, King Hamad University in Islamabad was termed a symbol of Pakistan-Bahrain friendship. Both leaders agreed to maintain close coordination at international forums, including the United Nations.
King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa stated that President Asif Ali Zardari’s visit marks an important milestone in bilateral relations and praised the role of the Pakistani community in Bahrain.
Later, a luncheon was hosted in honour of President Asif Ali Zardari and his delegation.
