Court imposes additional sentences under other charges, totaling 35 years of imprisonment collectively, along with fines of Rs1.5 million per accused
ISLAMABAD: (UrduPoint/Pakistan Point News-Jan 2nd, 2026) The Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in Islamabad has delivered its verdict in the May 9 digital terrorism case, sentencing Adil Raja, Sabir Shakir, Wajahat Saeed, and Mueed Peerzada to two life imprisonments each.
The court also imposed additional sentences under other charges, totaling 35 years of imprisonment collectively, along with fines of Rs1.5 million per accused.
The trial in the ATC Islamabad included the testimony of 24 prosecution witnesses. Judge Tahir Abbas Supra announced the reserved verdict. Rajan Owais and Hussain Kayani represented the prosecution, while the accused were represented by advocate Gulfam Ashraf Goraya, who had been appointed by the court as their counsel. Under anti-terrorism laws, trials can be conducted in the absence of the accused.
In addition to Adil Raja, Sabir Shakir, Wajahat Saeed, and Mueed Peerzada, the court also sentenced Haider Mehdi in connection with the case.
The court had conducted the trial in the absence of the accused following a prosecution request and had reserved the verdict for delivery.
Separate incidents linked to May 9 had earlier led to convictions at different police stations. In the Abpara Police Station case, Sabir Shakir, Mueed Peerzada, and Syed Akbar Hussain were sentenced to life imprisonment, while Shaheen Subhai, Haider Mehdi, and Wajahat Saeed also received sentences. At the Ramna Police Station, Shaheen Subhai, Haider Mehdi, and Wajahat Saeed were similarly convicted.
This verdict comes as part of ongoing proceedings related to the May 9 unrest and related acts of digital terrorism targeting state institutions.
