Karachi police rescue minor girl from BLA suicide plot

Sindh Home Minister Zia-ul-Hassan Lanjar reveals terrorists had contacted the girl via social media, fed her misleading narratives, and gradually radicalised her mindset

KARACHI: (UrduPoint/Pakistan Point News-Dec 29th, 2025) The security agencies in Karachi successfully rescued a minor student who was allegedly being groomed by banned Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) militants for a suicide attack, preventing a potential major tragedy in the city.

Speaking at a press conference alongside Additional IG CTD Azad Khan and Karachi Police Chief Javed Alam Odho, Sindh Home Minister Zia-ul-Hassan Lanjar revealed that terrorists had contacted the girl via social media, fed her misleading narratives, and gradually radicalised her mindset.

The minister emphasised that the girl’s family and residential details have been kept confidential to ensure their safety. “The government’s priority is the protection and well-being of the girl and her family,” he said.

Zia-ul-Hassan Lanjar also highlighted that the terrorists’ narrative is completely false, spread via social media to create anti-state sentiments. He urged parents to monitor their children’s social media activity and called on the Baloch community to stay vigilant against extremist organisations.

“The timely action of law enforcement agencies saved this girl. Our aim is for her to resume her education and build a bright future. We want her to become a teacher if she wishes, and contribute positively to society,” the minister added.

Additional IG CTD Azad Khan explained that a banned BLA operative had initially contacted the girl through Instagram and added her to a WhatsApp group. Like other children, she used social media, but was exposed to extremist content that gradually influenced her against the state.

He confirmed that the girl was saved from being used as a suicide bomber. “She was taken outside Karachi, but due to her age, we do not consider her a criminal. During routine snap checking outside the city, she was intercepted and safely returned to her family,” he said.

The official added that all details of the incident were shared with the girl’s family, and she will not face the criminal justice system. Full protection has been provided to ensure her safety and dignity.
