Youth, identified as Waqar, threatens to jump from crane if he is not allowed to meet CM Maryam Nawaz
OKARA: (UrduPoint/Pakistan Point News-Dec 19th, 2025) A young man from Okara climbed a crane near the under-construction MPA Hostel close to the Punjab Assembly to press his demands and seek a meeting with Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz.
The youth, identified as Waqar, threatened to jump from the crane if he was not allowed to meet the Chief Minister.
Rescue teams were immediately dispatched, and Rescue 1122 blocked the road and began negotiations with Waqar. Speaking to the team, Waqar insisted that he would not come down until a meeting with Maryam Nawaz was arranged. Rescue officials assured him that his demands would be addressed once he safely descended.
During the standoff, Advisor to the Chief Minister on Political Affairs Zeeshan Malik arrived at the site and spoke to Waqar over the phone, assuring him that all legitimate demands would be fulfilled. Following the assurances, Waqar was safely brought down by the rescue team.
At the scene, Rana Arshad confirmed that the Chief Minister had sent her political advisor, and the Speaker of the Punjab Assembly had also taken notice of the incident. Zeeshan Malik later took Waqar to his office to address his concerns.
Zeeshan Malik stated that Waqar had some personal family matters, which were communicated to the DCO Okara, and he was fully satisfied with the resolutions provided. He added that Waqar is a supporter of CM Maryam Nawaz, appreciating her effective governance.
Waqar, in brief remarks, said he wished to build his own house and hoped the Chief Minister would assist him in this regard.
