ISLAMABAD: (UrduPoint/Pakistan Point News-Dec 18th, 2025) Pakistani intelligence agencies have successfully arrested the spokesperson of ISIS Khorasan (ISIS-K), Sultan Aziz Azzam, in a major counterterrorism operation, officials confirmed.
Aziz Azzam is the founder of Al-Azaim Foundation, the official media wing of ISIS-K responsible for recruitment and propaganda activities. Following his arrest, the organization’s media operations have been suspended.
Sources said that in recent days, Pakistani authorities have carried out several high-profile arrests targeting ISIS-K operatives, including the detention of Sultan Aziz Azzam. The sixteenth report of the United Nations Analytical Support and Sanctions Monitoring Team highlighted that Pakistan’s actions have weakened ISIS-K’s organizational structure globally, foiled multiple planned attacks, and reduced the group’s active militant numbers.
The arrest, conducted in May 2025, also included senior ISIS-K leader Abu Yaser Al-Turki, significantly diminishing the group’s operational capabilities. As a result of these operations, key propaganda platforms, including “Voice of Khorasan,” have been suspended, further disrupting the group’s activities.
