Rescue officials say incident occurred near Korangi Kabaddi Ground when elderly man, carrying goods on his bicycle, was walking in dark and suddenly fell into drain
KARACHI: (UrduPoint/Pakistan Point News-Dec 17th, 2025) An elderly resident of Korangi Zaman Town tragically lost his life after falling into an open drain due to the absence of a protective wall.
The rescue officials said that the incident occurred near the Korangi Kabaddi Ground when the elderly man, carrying goods on his bicycle, was walking in the dark and suddenly fell into the drain. The accident took place around 6:30 pm yesterday, and CCTV footage of the incident has surfaced.
Police identified the deceased as Kale Khan, a resident of Zaman Town Sector 34-3. Preliminary reports suggest that the lack of protective barriers around the drain contributed to the accident.
Kale Khan was living in a rented house with his children and is survived by two daughters and two sons. His funeral prayer has been offered, and he was buried in a local graveyard.
Residents highlighted that complaints had previously been made to relevant authorities regarding the absence of a protective wall in front of a nearby center and school for blind and special children. However, no cleaning or safety measures were implemented despite repeated requests.
