KARACHI: (UrduPoint/Pakistan Point News-Dec 12nd, 2025) Pakistan has been selected to participate in the FIFA Women’s Series, an international football event created by FIFA President Gianni Infantino for countries that do not qualify for the FIFA World Cup, held every four years.
Mohsin Gilani, President of the Pakistan Football Federation (PFF), expressed his excitement over the selection, calling it a historic milestone for Pakistani football. While Pakistan’s teams have previously competed in FIFA qualifying rounds, this will be the first time the national team participates directly in a FIFA-sanctioned event. Gilani thanked FIFA President Gianni Infantino for this opportunity.
He added that the event will inspire young footballers across Pakistan and, for the first time, the national flag will be represented at a FIFA event—a significant achievement for the PFF.
Currently, the Pakistan women’s football team is ranked 154th out of 198 teams in the FIFA Women’s World Rankings.
FIFA has placed Pakistan in the Ivory Coast group for the 2026 Women’s Series. The full schedule, including opponents and match dates, has yet to be announced.
