Govt officials say situation surrounding Khan’s detention has reached a critical juncture, with some suggesting that there may be no turning back
ISLAMABAD: (UrduPoint/Pakistan Point News-Dec 10th, 2025) The Federal government has initiated discussions regarding the potential transfer of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan from Adiala Jail, sources confirmed on Sunday.
The government officials said that the situation surrounding Khan’s detention has reached a critical juncture, with some suggesting that there may be no turning back.
The government expressed concerns that PTI is pursuing a destabilizing agenda, allegedly seeking to incite chaos under the guise of protests.
The authorities claim that PTI's actions are intended to create unrest in the country.
Prime Minister’s Coordinator, Ikhtiar Wali, confirmed that the government is seriously considering the option of moving Imran Khan from Adiala Jail. Speaking to the media, Wali emphasized that the decision is being actively reviewed as part of broader security and legal concerns.
In a series of bold allegations, Wali accused Khyber Pakhtunkhwa's Chief Minister Sohail Afridi of having links with drug smugglers. He went further to claim that Afridi's performance as a provincial leader had been severely lacking, calling it “not zero, but minus.”
Wali further alleged that the Chief Minister’s relatives were involved in the drug trade and were providing protection to the illicit network.
The tense situation surrounding Imran Khan's incarceration has sparked significant public attention. Just the previous day, Khan's sisters staged a protest outside Adiala Jail after being denied a meeting with their brother.
The protest turned confrontational when police used water cannons to disperse the demonstrators. In response, the PTI supporters reportedly clashed with the police, and throwed stones at the officers in an attempt to halt their advance.
As the political crisis continues to unfold, the federal government is under increasing pressure to manage the situation and prevent further escalation of violence.
The decision on Khan’s potential transfer is expected to be made in the coming days as the authorities continue to assess the broader political and security implications.
