Court issues a notice to Justice Tariq Mehmood Jahangiri and ordered him, along with all other parties involved, to submit their responses within three days
ISLAMABAD: (UrduPoint/Pakistan Point News-Dec 9th, 2025) The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has ruled that the case concerning the alleged invalid degree of Justice Tariq Mehmood Jahangiri is admissible.
A IHC division bench led by Chief Justice Sardar Muhammad Sarfraz Dogar passed the order. The court issued a notice to Justice Tariq Mehmood Jahangiri and ordered him, along with all other parties involved, to submit their responses within three days.
The legal development followed a major move by the University of Karachi, which on September 26, declared Justice Jahangiri's law degree to be fraudulent and subsequently annulled it. The university's notification also stated that Justice Tariq Mehmood Jahangiri had never been a regular student at the Islamia Law College in Karachi.
In response to this, Justice Jahangiri challenged the University of Karachi’s decision in the Sindh High Court. On October 3, 2025, the Sindh High Court temporarily suspended the university’s notification to cancel his degree, pending further legal proceedings.
The Islamabad High Court’s latest ruling added another layer to this ongoing legal battle, as both the University of Karachi and Justice Tariq Mehmood Jahangiri continue to contest the matter in various courts. Further developments are awaited.
