Pakistan cricketers likely to miss full BPL due to national duty

Sources say players who are regular members of T20 squad may not be granted No Objection Certificates (NOCs) for the tournament

LAHORE: (UrduPoint/Pakistan Point News-Dec 4th, 2025) Pakistan's national cricketers are unlikely to play the full duration of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) due to overlapping national commitments, sources confirmed.

The sources said that the most of the players selected for the BPL are part of the Pakistan national team, and due to their national duties, they will not be able to participate in the entire league.

they said that there is a possibility that players who are regular members of the T20 squad may not be granted No Objection Certificates (NOCs) for the tournament. However, the NOC issue will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.

The Pakistan cricket board (PCB) has not officially declined to issue NOCs for BPL participation, but the teams in the BPL are aware of the national cricketers' commitments, and as a result, they may seek alternative players.

The BPL is scheduled to run from December 26, 2025, to January 23, 2026, during which time Pakistan will be touring Sri Lanka. Additionally, Pakistan's home series against Australia is scheduled for the end of January.

Selected players for the BPL include Saim Ayub, Khwaja Nafees, Sufyan Maqeem, Sahibzada Farhan, and Mohammad Nawaz, with Jahanzaib Khan, Ihsanullah, Haider Ali, Usman Khan, Abrar Ahmed, and Mohammad Amir also part of the roster.

Saim Ayub, Sahibzada Farhan, Mohammad Nawaz, Usman Khan, and Abrar Ahmed are regular members of Pakistan's T20 squad. The Pakistan team is set to play three T20 matches against Sri Lanka at the Dambulla Stadium on January 7, 9, and 11.
