India , Sri Lanka to cohost; Pakistan and India placed in same group with match set for 15 February.
MUMBAI: (UrduPoint/UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News-Nov,25, 2025) The ICC will unveil the schedule for the 2026 T20 World Cup today in Mumbai. The mega event will be played from 7 February to 8 March, jointly hosted by India and Sri Lanka.
According to sources, 20 teams have been divided into four groups, with the top two from each group advancing to the Super Eight stage. The Super Eight will feature 8 teams split into two groups, and the top two from each will qualify for the semifinals.
Pakistan and India have been placed in the same group, which also includes the USA, Namibia, and the Netherlands. The high-voltage Pakistan–India clash is scheduled for 15 February in Colombo, while Pakistan will play all its matches in Sri Lanka.
Sri Lanka, Australia, Zimbabwe, Ireland, Oman form another group; England, West Indies, Bangladesh, Nepal, Italy are in one group; and South Africa, New Zealand, Afghanistan, UAE, and Canada are grouped together.
In India, matches will be held in Kolkata, Chennai, Delhi, and Ahmedabad, while Sri Lanka will host games in Colombo and Kandy. Ahmedabad is selected for the final, but if Pakistan qualifies, the final will be shifted to Colombo. Similarly, semifinals are set for Mumbai and Kolkata, but Pakistan’s qualification will move their semifinal to Colombo.
