Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, who is also PCB chairman, has directed Chairman of Capital Development Authority (CDA) to ensure project is completed within one year
ISLAMABAD: (UrduPoint/Pakistan Point News-Nov 20th, 2025) The Ministry of Interior has approved the construction of an international-standard cricket stadium in Sector D-12 to address persistent traffic congestion during major cricket events in the Federal capital.
The official sources said that Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, who is also PCB chairman, has directed the Chairman of the Capital Development Authority (CDA) to ensure the project is completed within one year. The proposed facility will be developed on the model of Dubai’s modern cricket stadiums, featuring advanced infrastructure and high-end amenities.
Sources said that shifting major matches to a stadium located away from the city centre is expected to significantly reduce traffic disruptions. The project also includes the construction of a seven-star hotel adjacent to the stadium, offering accommodation and facilities for international teams.
The stadium complex will feature modern parking systems, enhanced security arrangements, and dedicated transport services. Additionally, several elements inspired by the Dubai sports Complex will be incorporated to enhance the overall spectator and player experience.
Further details regarding the project timeline and budget are expected to be announced by the CDA in the coming weeks.
