A board spokesperson says six cities have been shortlisted for bidding phase, and successful bidders will be entitled to choose their preferred city name from approved list
LAHORE: (UrduPoint/Pakistan Point News-Nov 20th, 2025) The Pakistan cricket Board (PCB) on Wednesday categorically denied media reports claiming that the Names for two new Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchises had been finalised.
In recent days, several reports suggested that Faisalabad and Gilgit were likely to be approved as the official cities for the new teams expected to join PSL 11.
However, the PCB clarified that no such decision has been made, adding that the process for selecting the cities is still underway. A spokesperson for the board said that six cities have been shortlisted for the bidding phase, and the successful bidders will be entitled to choose their preferred city name from the approved list.
The shortlisted cities include Faisalabad, Gilgit, Sialkot, Hyderabad, Rawalpindi and Muzaffarabad.
The PCB further stated that, in accordance with the official procedure, only the winning bidders will have the authority to select the franchise name from the cities listed in the bidding documents.
The board has invited offers from potential investors worldwide, with December 15 set as the deadline for submitting technical proposals.
