Official sources say Singhaira is an accused in a corruption case involving the alleged receipt of millions of rupees in bribes from a private housing society
LAHORE: (UrduPoint/Pakistan Point News-Nov 19th, 2025) Former Additional Deputy Commissioner (Revenue) Sialkot Iqbal Singhaira was re-arrested days after he escaped from police custody while being transported for a court hearing, the officials said on Wednesday.
The official sources said that Singhaira is an accused in a corruption case involving the alleged receipt of millions of rupees in bribes from a private housing society. The case is currently under trial.
Police sources said the accused was being taken from Lahore to the Anti-Corruption Court in Rawalpindi for a hearing on 13 November. During the journey, he escaped in a dramatic manner from the Chakri Motorway Rest Area, prompting an immediate search operation.
Following the incident, a case was registered at Chakri Police Station, nominating an ASI and three police personnel of Rawalpindi Police for alleged negligence that enabled the escape.
Rawalpindi Police later formed a special team to track down the fugitive. The team successfully located and arrested Singhaira, who has now been shifted to Kot Lakhpat Jail, officials confirmed.
