Court dismisses petition against Justice Saman Rafat, citing Supreme Judicial Council as proper forum.
ISLAMABAD: (UrduPoint/UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News-Nov,8, 2025) The Islamabad High Court has dismissed a contempt of court petition filed against female judge Justice Saman Rafat.
Justice Khadim Hussain Soomro declared the petition filed by advocate Kulsoom Khalique inadmissible and issued a written order for its dismissal, maintaining objections raised by the Registrar’s office. The court refrained from imposing a heavy fine on the female lawyer.
The court noted that the proper forum for action against a judge is the Supreme Judicial Council. Justice Rafat had only given observations and did not issue any enforceable orders.
The ruling also stated that the petitioner had involved several individuals holding constitutional positions without evidence, which is not permissible. The IHC emphasized that no sitting judge of a higher court can initiate contempt proceedings against another sitting judge, and such petitions are beyond the court’s jurisdiction.
The court ordered the case to be filed in the office due to the petitioner’s failure to satisfy objections.
