Govt allies and opposition hold separate sessions to discuss strategy and amendments.
ISLAMABAD: (UrduPoint/UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News-Nov,8, 2025) Emergency meetings were held by both government allies and opposition parties over the 27th Constitutional Amendment.
According to sources, a consultative session took place at Parliament House between Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N). Federal Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar, Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Dr. Tariq Fazal Chaudhry, and Barrister Aqeel Afzal attended the meeting. Later, PML-N leaders met with Farooq H. Naik, Chairman of the Standing Committee on Law and Justice, for further discussion.
Meanwhile, the opposition held an emergency meeting in the Senate, chaired by Barrister Ali Zafar, to discuss their strategy regarding the 27th Amendment. Senators including Raja Nasser Abbas Jafri, Noor ul Haq Qadri, Falak Naz Chitrali, and Abbas attended the session.
Following the meeting, the opposition delegation met the Chairman of the Senate, demanding the appointment of the opposition leader. Barrister Ali Zafar stated that the opposition’s rights were being undermined. The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has decided to stage strong protests both inside and outside the Senate over the delay in appointing the opposition leader.
