PPP-Govt deadlock on 27th amendment draft

PPP withholds approval, seeks changes to 27th Amendment as other coalition partners agree.

ISLAMABAD: (UrduPoint/UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News-Nov,7, 2025) A deadlock persists between the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and the government over the draft of the 27th Constitutional Amendment, sources revealed.

According to details, the Federal cabinet meeting—which was convened to approve the draft amendment—was briefed on its contents, but consensus among the coalition partners could not be reached.

Sources said that while MQM-P, PML-Q, and other allies have given a green signal, the PPP has expressed reservations and conveyed its concerns to the government.

The PPP has decided to hold internal consultations before proposing amendments to the draft and informing the government of its revised stance.

Once the government and coalition partners reach a consensus on the 27th Amendment, a final cabinet meeting will be held to approve the draft.
