PM’s adviser says provinces and federation must rebalance resources; stresses dialogue and consensus on constitutional reforms.
ISLAMABAD: (UrduPoint/UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News-Nov,4 , 2025) Prime Minister’s Adviser on Political Affairs, Rana Sanaullah, has said that there is a need to create a balance between the resources allocated to provinces and the federation under the 18th Amendment.
Speaking on Geo News’ morning show Geo Pakistan, Rana Sanaullah stated that while the Constitution is a sacred document, it is not immutable and can be improved through amendments. He noted that 26 amendments have already been made to the Constitution, adding that further discussions on necessary reforms should continue.
He clarified that there is no immediate plan to introduce a “27th Amendment,” but emphasized that dialogue and debate are essential features of democracy. He added that such discussions take time and evolve through consensus among political parties and parliamentarians.
Rana Sanaullah said the PML-N has no issue with the 18th Amendment, but acknowledged the need to reassess the distribution of financial resources between the provinces and the federation to maintain balance.
Commenting on the judiciary, he said all political parties agree on the need for a constitutional court to handle constitutional matters effectively. He also mentioned that the opposition initially agreed with the proposal but later withdrew its support.
