Man remanded for assaulting traffic cop

Islamabad ATC grants 14-day physical remand of suspect who attacked traffic police officer while intoxicated.

ISLAMABAD: (UrduPoint/UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News-Nov,3rd , 2025) An Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in Islamabad has handed over a citizen accused of assaulting a traffic police officer to police custody on a 14-day physical remand.

The accused, Aqib Naeem, was presented before ATC Judge Abu al-Hasanat Muhammad Zulqarnain. Police had requested a 30-day remand, but the court approved 14 days instead.

According to reports, the incident occurred in Sector I-8, where the suspect — allegedly intoxicated — created chaos and physically assaulted traffic police officers. Eyewitnesses said Aqib Naeem verbally abused and threatened the officers and even slapped one of them.

The I-9 Police Station registered a case against the suspect under terrorism and other serious charges on the complaint of Sub-Inspector Muhammad Ashfaq.
