Planning Minister says upgraded ports will turn Pakistan into a key maritime trade hub connecting Central, South Asia, and the Middle East.
KARACHI: (UrduPoint/UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News-Nov,3rd , 2025) Federal Minister for Planning Ahsan Iqbal has said that Pakistan is modernizing all its ports to transform the country into a major maritime trade route for the world.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of the Maritime Expo in Karachi, Ahsan Iqbal stated that Karachi Port, Port Qasim, and other ports are being upgraded to international standards. He added that Pakistan has the potential to become a vital trade hub linking Central Asia, South Asia, and the middle East.
The minister highlighted that Pakistan offers attractive investment opportunities across various sectors, including energy, information technology, and minerals. He emphasized that there are numerous prospects for investment in the blue economy, noting that global prosperity depends on the effective use of marine resources.
Ahsan Iqbal remarked that Pakistan is blessed with rich maritime resources, which can serve as a strong foundation for sustainable economic growth.
The International Maritime Expo in Karachi will continue until November 6, featuring 178 exhibitors from nearly all regions of the world.
