GUWAHATI: (UrduPoint/UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News-Oct,30, 2025) South Africa created history by defeating England in the Women’s World Cup semi-final, securing their first-ever spot in the tournament’s final.
Batting first, South Africa scored 319 for 7 in 50 overs. Captain Laura Wolvaardt led the innings with a career-best 169 runs off 143 balls, hitting 20 fours and 4 sixes. Tazmin Brits added 45, while Marizanne Kapp smashed a quick 42.
In reply, England were bowled out for 194 in 42.3 overs. Their top order collapsed, with Amy Jones, Tammy Beaumont, and Heather Knight all dismissed for ducks. Nat Sciver-Brunt (64) and Alice Capsey (50) offered some resistance, but it wasn’t enough.
Marizanne Kapp starred with the ball, taking five wickets, while Nadine de Klerk claimed two. Ayabonga Khaka, Masabata Klaas, and Sune Luus took one wicket each.
South Africa will now face the winner of the second semi-final between defending champions Australia and hosts India.
