Australia seal ODI series win against India

Australia defeated India in the second ODI at Adelaide by chasing a 265-run target with ease, taking an unbeatable 2–0 lead in the three-match series.

ADELAIDE: (UrduPoint/UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News-Oct,23, 2025) Australia outplayed India in the second One Day International (ODI) to clinch the three-match series 2–0 with one game remaining.

After winning the toss, Australia opted to field first. India struggled early as captain Shubman Gill was dismissed for 9, and Virat Kohli fell for a duck — his second consecutive zero in the series. This marked the first time in his career that Kohli was out for naught in back-to-back ODIs.

Rohit Sharma (73) and Shreyas Iyer (61) steadied the innings with a 113-run partnership, while Axar Patel added 44 runs. India posted 264 for 9 in their 50 overs.

For Australia, Adam Zampa took 4 wickets, Xavier Bartlett claimed 3, and Mitchell Starc picked up 2.

In reply, Australia comfortably chased down the 265-run target with 22 balls to spare, thanks to half-centuries from Matthew Short (74) and Cooper Connolly (61*). Mitchell Owen scored 36, and Matt Renshaw contributed 30.

Among Indian bowlers, Arshdeep Singh, Harshit Rana, and Washington Sundar took two wickets each, while Mohammad Siraj and Axar Patel claimed one apiece.

With this comprehensive victory, Australia secured an unassailable 2–0 lead in the ODI series against India.
