LHC grants 10 days to Punjab IG for recovery of missing girl

Chief Justice Aalia Neelum gives Punjab IG Dr. Usman Anwar 10 days to recover missing girl Fauzia Bibi, abducted from Kahna; court orders SOPs for all missing persons cases

LAHORE: (UrduPoint/UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News-Oct,22, 2025) The Lahore High Court has granted Punjab Inspector General Dr. Usman Anwar 10 days to recover a missing girl, Fauzia Bibi, who was allegedly abducted from the Kahna area.

Chief Justice Aalia Neelum heard the petition filed by Hameedan Bibi seeking recovery of her daughter. During the hearing, the Chief Justice questioned the IG sharply, asking, “Who were these beings that abducted the girl?” The IG replied that “they were human-like entities who took her away.”

Dr. Usman Anwar informed the court that no record of Fauzia Bibi existed in NADRA and that she had been missing since 2019. He said the girl had been in contact with a woman named Sughra Bibi, and all her mobile numbers had been traced.

The IG added that DNA tests of unidentified bodies were conducted, and all shelter homes and Edhi centers were checked, but the girl could not be found. He revealed that organized groups are involved in abducting girls from Punjab and taking them to Sindh and Balochistan, often luring them through social media.

The IG requested more time to continue investigations based on new leads, which the court granted. Chief Justice Aalia Neelum also directed that standard operating procedures (SOPs) be developed for handling missing persons and abduction cases. The court adjourned the hearing until November 6.
