Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat says Punjab's university budget has risen from Rs2 billion to Rs25 billion.
LAHORE: (UrduPoint/UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News-June-16,2026) Punjab education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat has said that funding for universities in the province has been increased by 1,100 percent.
Addressing a ceremony held in honor of scientists and researchers under the auspices of the Higher Education Commission Pakistan in Lahore, the minister said vice chancellors had been appointed on merit and the Honhaar Scholarship Program would be expanded from Rs15 billion to Rs20 billion.
He said the budget for Punjab’s universities had been increased from Rs2 billion to Rs25 billion, while overall university funding had risen by 1,100 percent.
Rana Sikandar Hayat added that admissions in public-sector universities were increasing, noting that nearly 40 successful candidates in the CSS examination were students of University of the Punjab.
