LODHRAN: (UrduPoint/Pakistan Point News-June 17th, 2026) An official inquiry has been initiated against Deputy Commissioner Lodhran Chaudhry Muhammad Ashraf Gujjar, Assistant Commissioner Farrukh Ullah Khan, and other revenue officials following a complaint filed under the Punjab Enforcement and Regulatory Authority (PERA) Act 2024.
Social and human rights advocate Muhammad Waseem Qureshi, Advocate, submitted a complaint to Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, who also serves as Chairperson of PERA, under Section 47 of the PERA Act 2024.
The complaint alleged irregularities, misuse of authority, and procedural violations in official actions carried out in Lodhran. It further claimed that the boundary wall of the Lodhran City Stadium was demolished without lawful justification and that changes were made to its boundaries, allegedly causing damage to public property and trees.
It was also alleged that certain private individuals benefited unfairly, while official powers were misused during the process. The complaint named multiple officials, including the deputy commissioner, assistant commissioner, and tehsil-level revenue staff, accusing them of corruption, administrative misconduct, and collusion that allegedly resulted in financial gains.
The petitioner further claimed that mandatory legal requirements, including public notices, tendering procedures, and regulatory approvals, were not followed during the alleged actions.
Sources said that after the matter was brought to the attention of the chief minister, it was referred to the Vice Chairperson of PERA and the Chief Secretary Punjab for further action. Subsequently, proceedings were initiated under Section 53 of the PERA Act 2024.
The Senior Member board of Revenue Punjab and the Secretary Revenue Punjab have been tasked with examining the allegations. A fact-finding committee has also been constituted to collect relevant records, statements, and documentary evidence from concerned departments.
The committee is expected to review all aspects of the complaint and submit its findings in accordance with legal and procedural requirements.
In a separate plea to the Chief Secretary Punjab, the complainant also alleged that enforcement operations in areas including Khameesa Bhatta Road and Khawaja Wala Chowk were carried out without prior notice or opportunity for affected residents to respond. The complaint further alleged that unlawful financial gains of approximately Rs90–100 million were made by certain officials and private individuals.
Meanwhile, residents and civil society members in Lodhran have welcomed the initiation of the inquiry, expressing hope that the process would ensure transparency and accountability.
Officials have clarified that the allegations are currently under investigation and no conclusions have been reached. They said the final determination will be made after the fact-finding committee submits its report and the inquiry process is completed.
