Road closures, internet suspension, and business shutdowns continued across Islamabad and Rawalpindi for a second day as a religious group’s protest brought daily life and transport to a standstill.
ISLAMABAD: (UrduPoint/UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News-Oct,11, 2025) Normal life in the twin cities remained severely disrupted for the second consecutive day on Tuesday following a protest call by a religious group.
Commercial activities have come to a standstill as major roads in Islamabad and Rawalpindi remain sealed. The Expressway, Faizabad Interchange, and IJP Road are completely closed, cutting off the main connection between the two cities. Routes including Khanna Pul, Kuri Road, and Dhoke Kala Khan also remain sealed.
Several key areas in Rawalpindi — including Waris Khan, Committee Chowk, Sixth Road, Shamsabad, and Iran Road — have been blocked, while Rawal Road, Shaheen Chowk, Saddar, and the old airport routes are also shut down.
In Islamabad, most entry points have been barricaded with containers, and the Red Zone has been completely sealed off. Only Margalla Road remains open to traffic.
The Rawalpindi administration has imposed a complete ban on the entry of heavy traffic into the city. Access roads to the Islamabad International Airport have also been closed, leading to flight delays.
Mobile internet services in the twin cities remain suspended for the second day, while educational institutions are closed due to the ongoing unrest.
The Metro Bus Service between the two cities also remains suspended. A heavy police contingent has been deployed at Faizabad, where all hotels in the vicinity have been sealed amid fears of further demonstrations.
