Imran, Bushra record statements in Toshakhana-II case

Bushra Bibi questions logic of the case, asking why Shah was dismissed for receiving an extra Rs 70,000 if he had allegedly given her a benefit of Rs 3.2 billion in May 2021

ISLAMABAD: (UrduPoint/Pakistan Point News-Oct 10th, 2025) Former Prime Minister and PTI founder Imran Khan, along with his wife Bushra Bibi, has submitted their written statements in the Toshakhana-II case, challenging the allegations and seeking acquittal in the accountability court.

In his statement under Section 342 of the Criminal Procedure Code, Imran Khan questioned whether merely failing to report gifts under the 2018 Toshakhana policy could be grounds for legal action. He said the gifts in question were received between May 7 and 10, 2021, and NAB later filed a case against him.

He added that the Toshakhana rules do not define the FIA’s jurisdiction and argued that the fourth Toshakhana case against him and his wife was fabricated. Khan also criticized key prosecution witness Inamullah Shah, pointing out he had been dismissed from the Prime Minister’s Office for dishonestly drawing two salaries and had worked as part of Jahangir Tareen’s network. He further claimed that Shah had not even mentioned the Bulgari jewelry set in his earlier NAB testimony.

Bushra Bibi’s statement

Bushra Bibi said she legally retained the Bulgari jewelry set after paying for it in accordance with Toshakhana rules and denied instructing Inamullah Shah to undervalue the set through witness Sohaib Abbasi. She also highlighted that Shah had been employed at both the PTI Secretariat and the Prime Minister’s House and was removed for drawing two salaries.

She questioned the logic of the case, asking why Shah was dismissed for receiving an extra Rs 70,000 if he had allegedly given her a benefit of Rs 3.2 billion in May 2021. Bushra Bibi maintained that NAB had no jurisdiction, the Italian valuation could not be used as evidence, and the chairman of NAB had unlawfully pardoned witness Sohaib Abbasi. She also claimed FIA never conducted proper investigations and submitted fabricated reports.

Bushra Bibi stressed that she is a pardah-observing woman who has never participated in political activities and reiterated the Islamabad High Court’s ruling that FIA has no authority to pursue the case. She added that one cannot be punished multiple times for the same offense, as is being done in the Toshakhana cases.

The court had issued a 29-question Section 342 questionnaire to both Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi, to which the couple submitted their responses on Thursday.
