After assessing Pakistan’s spin resources, South Africa held a short camp in Pretoria to prepare for spin-heavy pitches; first Test in Lahore begins on October 12.
LAHORE: (UrduPoint/UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News-Oct,07, 2025) After studying Pakistan’s spin options, the South African Test side has turned its preparations toward playing spin ahead of the upcoming two-Test series in Pakistan.
A brief training camp was held in Pretoria before the team’s departure, where emphasis was placed on batting against spin. South Africa have specifically prepared to face Pakistan’s spinners for the two-Test tour.
South African captain Aiden Markram said teams can prepare pitches as they wish at home, and he expects conditions to be similar to those seen in the England series. He added that such surfaces pose challenges for batters, but the squad is happy with its makeup and will do its job regardless of conditions.
Markram noted that South Africa travel with three spinners, who present a genuine challenge and will play an important role for the team.
The South African Test squad’s players are due to arrive in Lahore tonight, and the first Test between the two countries starts on October 12 in Lahore.
Pakistan, meanwhile, plans to exploit spin in both Tests, with Abrar Ahmed, Sajid Khan, Nauman Ali and Asif Afridi seen as key weapons in their spin attack.
