An explosion on the railway track near Sultan Kot derailed four coaches of Jaffar Express, injuring four passengers. Train operations have been suspended as the bomb disposal squad investigates.

SHIKARPUR: (UrduPoint/UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News-Oct,07, 2025) Four coaches of the Jaffar Express derailed on Monday after a blast occurred on the railway track near Sultan Kot village in Sindh.

According to police, the explosion damaged the track and caused the train to derail, leaving four passengers injured, who were shifted to a nearby hospital for medical treatment. The bomb disposal squad has been called to examine the site and collect evidence to determine the nature of the explosion.

Police said train operations on the affected route have been temporarily suspended, while arrangements are being made to transport stranded passengers by bus.

The divisional Superintendent (DS) Railways confirmed that repair work on the damaged track has started and may take 8 to 10 hours to complete. No trains were scheduled to pass through the section before 5 p.m., he added.

Meanwhile, Sindh Home Minister Zia Lanjar has sought a detailed report from the SSP Shikarpur, directing an immediate investigation into the incident and swift action to arrest those involved in damaging the railway track.
