ATC issues arrest warrants for 50 PTI leaders in Nov 26 protest case

Court approves plea seeking legal action against party leaders in two cases registered in connection with protest

ISLAMABAD : (UrduPoint/Pakistan Point News-July 31st, 2025) An anti-terrorism court (ATC) in Islamabad on Wednesday issued arrest warrants for 50 Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders in connection with a protest held on November 26.

The warrants were issued by ATC Judge Abual Hasnat Zulqarnain on the request of the Karachi Company police station.

The court approved the plea seeking legal action against the party leaders in two cases registered in connection with the protest.

Prominent PTI figures named in the warrants include former president Dr. Arif Alvi, Omar Amin Gandapur, former National Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser, Hammad Azhar, Atif Khan, Abdul Qayyum Niazi, Shibli Faraz, Faisal Javed, and lawyer Salman Akram Raja.

Other PTI leaders facing arrest warrants include Rauf Hassan, Murad Saeed, Ahmed Niazi, Shoaib Shaheen, Senator Azam Swati, Omar Ayub, Sahibzada Hamid Raza, Aleema Khan, Sheikh Waqas Akram, Kanwal Shauzab, Shandana Gulzar, and Sher Afzal Marwat.

The police had moved the court seeking the issuance of arrest warrants, citing non-compliance and failure of the accused to join the investigation.

The protest, held on November 26, was part of PTI’s campaign against the alleged political victimization of its leaders and for demanding early general elections.
