Shanti was admitted to Trauma Centre of Civil Hospital in critical condition after suffering horrific injuries including mutilation of various parts of her body
KARACHI: (UrduPoint/Pakistan Point News-July 23rd, 2025) A tragic case of domestic violence on Wednesday emerged from Karachi’s Lyari area, where a 19-year-old newlywed girl succumbed to injuries sustained after alleged brutal torture by her husband.
The police reported that the victim, identified as Shanti, was married to a man named Ashok on June 15. Just two days after the wedding, on June 17, she was allegedly subjected to severe physical abuse by her husband at their residence in Shah Baig Lane, Lyari.
Shanti was admitted to the Trauma Centre of Civil Hospital in critical condition after suffering horrific injuries including mutilation of various parts of her body. Despite efforts by the doctors, she passed away while undergoing treatment.
The police confirmed that the accused, Ashok, was arrested by Baghdadi Police soon after the incident. A case was registered against him on the complaint of the victim’s brother.
The accused was presented before the court and has been sent to jail.
