Monsoon season; thunderstorm, heavy rains likely in Karachi, Sindh tomorrow

MET office warns that under intense weather conditions due to monsoon season, fragile structures such as makeshift houses, electric poles, vehicles and solar panels might be at risk of damage

KARACHI: (UrduPoint/Pakistan Point News-July 19th, 2025) The thunderstorm and heavy rain are likely in Karachi and other parts of Sindh on Sunday (tomorrow).

Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) warned of possible urban flooding in parts of Sindh due to rains.

The PMD said that monsoon conditions intensified in the region as the strong moisture-laden winds entered the various districts of the province.

Weather in Karachi remained largely cloudy on Saturday (today). The large clouds raised the likelihood of rainfall while thunder and lightning are expected to accompany showers on Sunday.

Meteorological experts predicted that moderate to heavy rain is likely in several districts across Sindh, including Ghotki, Khairpur, Sanghar, Mirpurkhas, Umerkot, Tharparkar, Badin, Thatta, Sujawal, Hyderabad, Tando Muhammad Khan, Tando Allahyar, Matiari, Sukkur, Shikarpur, Shaheed Benazirabad, Naushahro Feroze and Larkana.

In Qambar Shahdadkot, intermittent showers are expected while light to moderate rainfall may continue in Jamshoro district until Sunday.

The PMD also cautioned that persistent heavy rainfall in rural parts of Sindh could lead to urban flooding, particularly in low-lying areas.

The weather department warned that under intense weather conditions, the fragile structures such as makeshift houses, electric poles, vehicles and solar panels might be at risk of damage.

The authorities advised residents to take necessary precautions and stay updated with official weather advisories as the monsoon system strengthens across the province.
