No Pakistani in Test top 10 as ICC releases latest player rankings

Highest-ranked Pakistani in list is Saud Shakeel who sits at 12th after climbing one position

DUBAI: (UrduPoint/Pakistan Point News-July 17th, 2025) The International cricket Council (ICC) has released the latest men’s player rankings, and for Pakistan, the results offer mixed fortunes.

No Pakistani batter features in the Top 10 of the ICC Test Batting Rankings, highlighting a concerning absence at the highest level.

The highest-ranked Pakistani in the list is Saud Shakeel, who sits at 12th after climbing one position.

In the Test bowling rankings, however, Nauman Ali provides some solace, holding the fifth spot. Meanwhile, Haris Rauf has slipped two places in the T20I bowlers' rankings, now ranked 20th, while Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan stand at 12th and 13th respectively among T20I batters—both outside the top 10.

England’s Joe Root has returned to the No. 1 Test batter position after a strong performance, pushing New Zealand’s Kane Williamson to second. England’s Harry Brook and Australia’s Steve Smith now occupy the third and fourth spots respectively. India’s Shubman Gill has dropped to ninth.

Among Test bowlers, India’s Jasprit Bumrah retains the top ranking, followed by several Australian stars, including Pat Cummins, Josh Hazlewood, and Mitchell Starc, all in the top 10.

In the T20I batting chart, Australia’s Travis Head continues to lead, while India’s Yashasvi Jaiswal has broken into the top 10. Pakistan’s duo, Babar and Rizwan, remain just outside the elite bracket.

In T20I bowling, New Zealand’s Jacob Duffy holds the top position. West Indies’ Akeal Hosein and Australia’s Adam Zampa have both made gains, while Sri Lanka’s Wanindu Hasaranga has fallen to sixth.

Bangladesh’s Rishad Hossain and Sri Lanka’s Nuwan Thushara made notable leaps, whereas Pakistan’s Haris Rauf has faced a slight dip in rankings.
