Interior Minister Naqvi says prime minister played a key role in the Iran-Israel ceasefire, and behind Iran’s visible success and ceasefire is role of the uniform
ISLAMABAD: (UrduPoint/Pakistan Point News-July 3rd, 2025) Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has claimed that Pakistan received “divine assistance” during its conflict with India, and that the military played a crucial role in both the Iran-Israel ceasefire and Iran’s apparent regional success.
Naqvi made these remarks while presiding over a high-level meeting in Islamabad on Wednesday regarding law and order during Muharram.
The meeting was attended by Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry, Chairman of the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad, and several other prominent religious leaders.
Addressing the gathering, Naqvi acknowledged the longstanding contributions of religious scholars in promoting peace and urged unity among all sects. “The Ruet-e-Hilal Committee chairman should carry everyone along. Our theme should be: ‘Do not abandon your sect, and do not interfere with anyone else's’,” he said.
Sharing insights into past military events, the interior minister recalled two incidents during heightened tensions with India. He said that while Pakistan did not wish to escalate hostilities or cause civilian casualties, its missiles—fired during the conflict—unexpectedly struck India’s largest oil depot.
“In one case, Pakistan fired missiles, and due to slight miscalculations, there was fear they might hit civilian areas, but they landed on India’s largest oil facility,” he said.
Naqvi further revealed that India had launched around 11 missiles at a Pakistani airbase where both personnel and aircraft were present. “We feared severe losses, but we later received confirmation that none of the Indian missiles caused any damage. These are just two examples of divine help,” he added.
He emphasized that not a single aircraft or individual was harmed by the Indian missiles and stated that the then Army Chief had made it clear that any Indian aggression would result in a stronger response.
Naqvi while talking about regional tensions said, “The prime minister played a key role in the Iran-Israel ceasefire. Behind Iran’s visible success and the ceasefire is the role of the uniform [military],” he added, suggesting military involvement behind the scenes.
He added that “I don't want to go into further details, but the way our leadership communicated and convinced global leaders is something we should all be proud of.”
