“Bring down my govt constitutionally if you can,” KP CM Gandapur challenges states authorities

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur says he will quite politics if his government is brought down constitutionally

PESHAWAR: (UrduPoint/Pakistan Point News-July 2nd, 2025) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur on Wednesday challenged the state authorities, saying that, “If you can bring down my government through constitutional means, go ahead — if you succeed, I will quit politics,”.

Speaking at a joint press conference alongside PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar, Salman Akram Raja, and other party leaders following a PTI parliamentary party meeting, Gandapur adopted a defiant tone.

He stated, “The state is supposed to act like a mother, but right now it's acting like a tyrant. That’s why I am challenging it — and all its institutions.” Gandapur added, “You conspired and failed. You tried unconstitutional tactics and still couldn’t succeed.”

CM Gandapur further said, “You’ve imposed unconstitutional martial law and governor rule in the past. Now I challenge your power and authority — throw our people in jail, do everything you can to bring down the KP government.”

He emphasized, “You cannot remove our government through legal and constitutional methods because you can’t break our people. No one has the power to break the loyalists of Imran Khan.”

Gandapur said today's meeting was a message to those who think PTI is divided. “We are giving our all for the release of PTI’s founder. I was arrested even before May 9. People say we committed excesses on May 9, but the conspiracy against our leader started before that date.”

He called the 26th constitutional amendment “an attack on the judiciary,” stating, “Until we return to power and reverse it, the judiciary will remain in chains. The PTI founder asked to meet us — he is our party head, and we had the right to meet him, but I sensed they would not allow the meeting.”

Gandapur clarified, “Our government and authority lie with the PTI founder. He alone can order its dissolution. Constitutionally, our government cannot be removed.”

He reiterated, “This is my challenge — do not take unconstitutional steps. And even constitutionally, you cannot do anything.”

Responding to a question, he said, “Imran Khan has never refused talks. We are ready to speak to those who actually hold the power. Right now, this country is being run through force, and everyone knows the real standing of the PML-N and PPP,”.

When asked about the upcoming political movement, Gandapur said, “After Muharram, we will launch a nationwide political campaign and escalate it. If bullets are fired at us, the response will be in kind,”.
