Asian Junior Squash Championship 2025: Six players including Ali sisters advanced to Quarterfinals

Three players including Mehwish Ali face elimination in pre-quarterfinal round  

LAHORE: (UrduPoint/Pakistan Point News-July 2nd, 2025) Six Pakistani Players including Ali Sisters have advanced to quarterfinals of 32nd Asian Junior Squash Championship 2025, the international media reported on Wednesday.

Six out of nine Pakistani players participating in various events of the ongoing 32nd Asian Junior Squash Championship have advanced to the quarterfinals.

However, three players, including Mehwish Ali, were eliminated in the pre-quarterfinal round.

In the Boys’ Under-19 category, third-seeded Abdullah Nawaz defeated India’s Tonit with a straight-set victory of 3-0. Abdullah won the games 11-4, 11-5, and 11-6 to secure his spot in the quarterfinals. However, in the same category, another Pakistani player, Anas Ali Shah, lost to India’s Yusha Nafees in a tough five-game battle, with a final score of 2-3.

In the Boys’ Under-15 category, top seed Nauman Khan comfortably defeated Malaysia’s Muhammad Ismail 3-0 without any resistance. In the same event, another Pakistani player, Ahmad Rayan Khalil, also defeated India’s Sheryanmanash 3-0.

In the Boys’ Under-17 category, Mohammad Umair Arif lost 0-3 to India’s fifth-seeded Subhash. Meanwhile, in the Boys’ Under-13 event, top seed Suhail Irfan defeated Malaysia’s Mesor 3-0.

Among the three competing Ali sisters in the women’s events, two advanced further.

In the Girls’ Under-13 event, ninth seed Mahnoor Ali defeated Hong Kong’s Cheung Hoi Kray Maria 3-0.

In the Girls’ Under-15 category, Sehrish Ali, after losing the first game, made a comeback to defeat Hong Kong’s third seed Chiu Yaar Ching 3-1.

However, eldest of Ali sisters, Mehwish Ali, was defeated by Hong Kong’s fifth seed Chong Wai Lee with a score of 3-1.

It may be mentioned here that nine out of eleven Pakistani players won their matches in the first round of the championship. Yahya Khan (Boys’ U-17) and Muhammad Mustafa Khan (Boys’ U-13) were eliminated in the opening round.
