MET office predicts some relief to residents reeling from the ongoing heatwave in Karachi and other parts of Sindh
KARACHI: (UrduPoint/Pakistan Point News-June 26th, 2025) The monsoon rains are expected to start in Karachi, Sindh, from Thursday (today) amid heatwave, warned Pakistan Meteorological Department.
The Met office also issued a forecast of some relief to residents reeling from the ongoing heatwave.
Meteorologist Anjum Nazir revealed that the first spell of the monsoon is likely to begin in Karachi by Thursday (today evening). He stated that under the influence of the developing monsoon system, the city is expected to receive rainfall between Friday and Sunday.
Continuous showers are expected on Saturday, with periods of intense rainfall while the heavy downpour on the same day may lead to urban flooding in parts of the city.
Rain is also expected to continue intermittently on Sunday.
A low-pressure weather system is currently present over Gujarat, India which is expected to move towards Sindh in the coming days that could trigger widespread rain in Sindh. Urban flooding could also affect other cities in Sindh as a result.

The meteorologist noted that rainfall is expected today in Badin Thatta and Mirpurkhas while Karachi could experience maximum temperatures reaching up to 35°C.
