Imad Shakeel Butt declines PSB luncheon over insufficient travel allowance

PSB had extends an invitation to Butt to attend a luncheon in Islamabad, offers Rs5,600 to cover travel expenses

LAHORE: (UrduPoint/Pakistan Point News-June 24th, 2025) Pakistan hockey team captain Imad Shakeel Butt on Tuesday declined an invitation to a luncheon hosted by the Pakistan Sports board (PSB), citing an insufficient travel allowance.

According to sources, PSB had extended an invitation to Butt to attend a luncheon in Islamabad, offering Rs5,600 to cover travel expenses. However, the skipper politely turned down the invitation, saying the amount was not enough to even cover toll charges for the trip.

“I appreciate the gesture, but Rs. 5,600 barely covers the toll costs,” Butt reportedly responded, declining the offer with thanks.

Imad Shakeel Butt recently led Pakistan to the final of the Nations Hockey Cup in Malaysia, where the team played against New Zealand.

The PSB had invited six players from the national hockey team to the event, including Sufyan Khan, Rana Waheed, Abdullah, Muneebur Rehman, and Hanan Shahid.

The prominent athletes from other sports were also invited to the luncheon including Olympic gold medalist javelin thrower Arshad Nadeem and celebrated weightlifter Nooh Dastgir Butt.
