TikToker Sana Yousuf’s murder case: Suspect sent to jail on 14-day judicial remand

Court instructs superintendent of Adiala Jail to ensure that suspect does not meet anyone during identification process

ISLAMABAD: (UrduPoint/Pakistan Point News-June 4th, 2025) A district and sessions court in Islamabad on Wednesday sent Umar Hayat, the main accused in the murder of TikToker Sana Yousuf, to jail on a 14-day judicial remand for an identification parade.

The suspect was presented before Judicial Magistrate Ahmed Shehzad Gondal under tight security, with his face covered as police escorted him into the courtroom.

During the hearing, police requested physical remand and permission to conduct an identification parade of the accused. The magistrate granted the request and directed that Umar Hayat be sent to Adiala Jail for 14 days.

In a written order, the court instructed the superintendent of Adiala Jail to ensure that the suspect does not meet anyone during the identification process. Police were further ordered to submit a report related to the identification parade by June 18.

The court proceedings were briefly disrupted due to the absence of both the concerned prosecutor and the district public prosecutor. Expressing displeasure, Magistrate Ahmed Shehzad questioned, “Where are my court prosecutors? They usually don’t appear, but today everyone is here!”

He ordered that the district prosecutor be summoned immediately.

A duty prosecutor informed the court that the relevant prosecutor was on leave. The magistrate stated firmly that the case would not proceed without the district prosecutor's presence.

The courtroom witnessed an unusual turnout, with Senator Falak Naz present along with a significant number of court staff and media personnel.

The court resumed the hearing after a short recess, and the court concluded the session by issuing a formal written order.
